Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his home with community service. The first family is his youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. The second football was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. During his three years as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and won two national championships. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree as a teacher. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work during his college years. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa and spent the next 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. 3 times he was named All-Pro. Then he began his business career. In 1988, he was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 outstanding youngsters across the country. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was an athlete, was captain of his team for the year 1975. He was promoted to the athletic director's assistant at the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
