Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most unique of pop artists: one who could successfully cross the divide between pop and country music and conquer the world. Swift let go of the influences from her country music in the sense that they had been added as an extra layer of skin, revealing she was among the best singers/songwriters of her generation. Swift could make the occasion personal, or use it to her advantage. This was evident in her early hits including the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless showed a writer discovering the person she really was, and in the process finding the mass market. Fearless was successful not only in America, but also with six platinum-certified songs. Its Top Ten songs Love Story & You Belong with Me were the most important reasons. But, it also did exceptionally well throughout the world. Swift's second album Speak Now, released just two years after the debut, further consolidated this momentum. The album propelled Swift into the spotlight. The next three years, her fame increased with the release of three albums -three times - Red (2012), Reputation (2014) as well as 1989 (2014-2015) -- as she entered a new realm of pop where her talents were already established. Her popularity grew even after she reformulated her approach in 2020's more streamlined siblings Folklore (and Evermore) and stayed atop of the pop world.
