Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry children that would be raised in the same household, figured out very young how to overcome of her difficulties by using her rich and vibrant imagination. Prior to learning how to read or write Dolly Parton was composing her own songs. The first guitar she received was gifted by her mother when she was eighteen. The singer began her singing career at an Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. In the following year, she made her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small label. While still in highschool She made her mark local, but longed for a larger stage. In 1964, the day that followed her graduation from high school, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her first two charting albums on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host in the late '60s, was looking for a female singer for his program. Parton became a member of Grand Ole Opry 1969 after signing with RCA Records. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974, when her solo hits such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton wrote "I I Will Never Forget You" for Wagoner soon after their split. It hit No. For the first time, in 1974.
